We give a new, sharpened version of the period theorem of Masser and W\"ustholz, which is moreover totally explicit. We also present a new formulation involving all archimedean places. We then derive new bounds for elliptic isogenies, improving those of Pellarin. The small numerical constants obtained allow an application to Serre's uniformity problem in the split Cartan case, thanks to the work of Bilu, Parent and Rebolledo.

We prove the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of roots of mirror maps at the origin. By mirror maps, we mean formal power series z.exp(G(z)/F(z)), where F(z) and G(z)+log(z)F(z) are particular solutions of certain generalized hypergeometric differential equations. This enables us to prove a conjecture stated by Zhou in "Integrality properties of variations of Mahler measures" [arXiv:1006.2428v1 math.AG]. The proof of these results is an adaptation of the techniques used in our...

Slopes of an adelic vector bundle exhibit a behaviour akin to successive minima. Comparisons between the two amount to a Siegel lemma. Here we use Zhang's version for absolute minima over the algebraic numbers. We prove a Minkowski-Hlawka theorem in this context. We also study the tensor product of two hermitian bundles bounding both its absolute minimum and maximal slope, thus improving an estimate of Chen. We further include similar inequalities for exterior and symmetric powers, in terms of...

This work falls within the theory of linear forms in logarithms over a commutative linear group defined over a number field. We give lower bounds for simultaneous linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers, treating both the archimedean and $p$-adic cases. The proof includes Baker's method, Hirata's reduction, Chudnovsky's process of variable change. The novelty is that we integrated into the proof the modern tools of adelic slope theory, using also a new small values Siegel's lemma.

We consider the effective resummation of a Borel sum by its associated factorial series expansion. Our approach provides concrete estimates for the remainder term when truncating this factorial series. We then generalize a theorem of Nevanlinna which gives us the natural framework to extend the factorial series method for Borel-resummable fractional power series expansions.

We built a frequency-doubled laser for 87Rb laser cooling, from a Telecom fiber laser. Thanks to intense technological development, telecom fiber lasers exhibit outstanding properties regarding relative intensity noise and modulation bandwidth. The enhanced doubling efficiency of periodically poled crystals allowed to obtain up to 1.8 W at 780 nm from 10 W at 1560 nm, with a simple pass configuration in a 50-mm long crystal of ppLN:MgO. This technique can also be applied at the wavelength of...

A first encounter with $A(\lambda) := \int_0^{+\infty}\{\lambda t\}\{t\}t^{-2}dt.$ This text contains the detailed calculations leading to the results of our paper "Etude de l'autocorrelation multiplicative de la fonction "partie fractionnaire"", to appear in the Ramanujan Journal.

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of mirror maps at the origin. By mirror maps, we mean formal power series z.exp(G(z)/F(z)), where F(z) and G(z)+log(z)F(z) are particular solutions of certain generalized hypergeometric differential equations. This criterion is based on the analytical properties of Landau's function (which is classically associated to the sequences of factorial ratios) and it generalizes results proved by...

The Outilex software platform, which will be made available to research, development and industry, comprises software components implementing all the fundamental operations of written text processing: processing without lexicons, exploitation of lexicons and grammars, language resource management. All data are structured in XML formats, and also in more compact formats, either readable or binary, whenever necessary; the required format converters are included in the platform; the grammar...

Solving Sudoku puzzles is one of the most popular pastimes in the world. Puzzles range in difficulty from easy to very challenging; the hardest puzzles tend to have the most empty cells. The current paper explains and compares three algorithms for solving Sudoku puzzles. Backtracking, simulated annealing, and alternating projections are generic methods for attacking combinatorial optimization problems. Our results favor backtracking. It infallibly solves a Sudoku puzzle or deduces that a unique...

We investigate refined algebraic quantisation within a family of classically equivalent constrained Hamiltonian systems that are related to each other by rescaling a momentum-type constraint. The quantum constraint is implemented by a rigging map that is motivated by group averaging but has a resolution finer than what can be peeled off from the formally divergent contributions to the averaging integral. Three cases emerge, depending on the asymptotics of the rescaling function: (i)...

Diaconis and Isaacs define a supercharacter theory for algebra groups over a finite field by constructing certain unions of conjugacy classes called superclasses and certain reducible characters called supercharacters. This work investigates the properties of algebra subgroups $H\subset G$ which are unions of some set of the superclasses of $G$; we call such subgroups supernormal. After giving a few useful equivalent formulations of this definition, we show that products of supernormal...
